Introducing . . . Our Summer Student Intern!
Many of you know that my wife, Jan, and her daughter, Tori, were living in their home this year, (3 hours south of Erie), while Tori finished her Senior year at Charleroi Area High School. Well, Tori is now graduated and they are both here, living in the parsonage. Yeah!
Many of you also know that Tori has heard God’s call upon her life to become an ordained United Methodist minister. She will be attending Edinboro University this September, living on campus, with plans to be a Philosophy/Religion major.

In preparation for this vocation, Tori is ministerial intern at our church this July and August. (I will be paying her salary.) Our Staff/Pastor Parish Relations Committee and our Administrative Board approved this position, along with a detailed job description. Tori will be doing all of the things that parish ministers do. She will be preaching once each month, leading worship services, visiting in homes, hospitals and nursing homes, attending church meetings, helping to conduct weddings and funerals, leading Bible studies and doing a lot of praying, reading and studying.
Tori (who sometimes likes to be called Victoria – though I still haven’t figured out when those times are) loves Jesus and loves people. Her faith in God knows no limits. Her morals are impeccable. She relates to everyone with ease, from little children to senior citizens. And she is a delight to be around.
If Tori calls your home to schedule a visit, you will be so blessed if you can fit her into your busy summer schedule and get to know her. If you’re in the hospital and her smiling face shows up beside your bed, know that you will be prayed for by someone who genuinely believes what she is entreating God to do for you.
Thank you for your warm welcome of Jan and Tori, as they begin this extremely new and different chapter in their lives. Jan has never been a pastor’s wife, and Tori has never moved away from home. Please continue praying for them both, as they transition to their new lifestyles here at Asbury. (And if you have any leads on where Jan could find employment that’d be great!)
It is an honor to be your Pastor.
Pastor Dan
